Today, in 2 Thessalonians 2 we hear Paul tell this church, "Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things?" If we rewind to the book of Acts, we find Paul was only with them for 3 WEEKS ("Sabbaths")!! So, according to today's reading, what do we find Paul felt were among the highest priority topics for him to teach new Christians, and help them to learn, know, and understand within the first 3 weeks of teaching?

- The Gospel
- The Rapture (our "gathering together with Him" ... when the "Restrainer" is removed)
- The coming Lawless One (the Antichrist)
- The Day of the Lord (the Great Tribulation)
- The awesome Return of Jesus Christ to Rule over Israel and ALL the nations on Earth

Yet, as we find today, many (or most) Christians who have attended churches for 10, 20, or 30 years have never been adequately taught, know, or understand these important Biblical teachings. In fact, many (or most) churches today are now teaching that all these things DID happen in the past (in 70 AD, sometimes called the "preterist" position, which a simple study of history and our daily news headlines quickly prove these things have NOT taken place, and are yet future.) But, now as we see the "rebellion" (or falling away or "apostasy" where we are warned churches and church leaders will "no longer endure sound doctrine") rising in most Denominational and Catholic churches today, we need to take heed to Paul's teaching, for the Bible teaches us our Lord will return for His Church on a day we do not know (or expect), at any moment, in the "twinkling of an eye." It is this urgency of anticipation that should help drive us (as it has the believing church for almost 2000 years as God's Word has spread around the whole world) to help share the Gospel with as many men, women, boys, and girls as we can before the "appointed" time.  Prophecies ...    “Now, brethren,    (He is warning believing Christians ... who still love, trust, and obey God's Word)

     concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ   (Yeshua Ha'Mashiach in Hebrew)

     and our being gathered together to Him,  Prophecies ... The coming "RAPTURE"  

     we ask you not to be quickly shaken in mind or alarmed,

     either by a spirit or a spoken word,

     or a letter seeming to be from us,

     to the effect that the Day of the Lord has come.

     Let no one deceive you in any way.

     For that Day will not come,   (Prophecies: The "Day of the Lord" ... The coming "APOCALYPSE" and ARMAGEDDON) 

     unless the FALLING AWAY (rebellion) comes FIRST,   (Prophecies ... Churches will "DEPART from the faith")  

     (churches and "Christians" turning away from and denying God's Word ... just like we are now seeing!!)

     and the Man of Lawlessness (Sin) is revealed,    (Prophecies ... The coming ANTICHRIST)

     the Son of Perdition,   (another title of the coming Antichrist) 

     who opposes and exalts himself above (against)

     ALL that is called god or worshipped,

     (beware ... a terrible and powerful "one-world" (ecumenical) religious system is coming)

     so that he takes his seat in the Temple of God,    (a new Jewish Temple WILL be built in Jerusalem)

     proclaiming himself to be God.  (he will demand to be worshipped as God)

     (Jesus warns this event will trigger the 2nd half (3 1/2 yrs) of the Apocalypse ... the "Great Tribulation")

     Do you not REMEMBER that when I was still with you

     I TOLD you these things?  

     (In Acts we find Paul was only with them for 3 WEEKS (“Sabbaths”) ... these are important!!)

     And you know what is restraining him now  (the Holy Spirit)

     so that he (Antichrist) may be revealed in his time.

     For the mystery of Lawlessness is already at work.

     Only He who now restrains it will do so

     UNTIL HE  (the Holy Spirit who now indwells all believers)

Today is a special day.  For those who love God's Word and have been well taught, these verses in Isaiah and 1 Thessalonians offer a powerful glimpse of what was, what is, and what shall be.  They speak of what Messiah would accomplish during His first visit ("The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, because the Lord has Anointed Me (Messiah) to bring good news (translated "gospel" in Greek) to the poor (afflicted); He has sent Me to bind up (comfort) the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound (or the opening of the eyes to those who are blind; recovery of sight to the blind ) to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor" (when Jesus read these verses in the Synagogue He told them they were seeing this prophecy fulfilled, and then He closed the scroll of Isaiah before reading the next verse "and the Day of Vengeance of our God" which will be fulfilled at His Return ... the Jews then wanted to stone Him for claiming to be the Messiah).  These verses also speak and prophesy of the coming Rapture.  In 1 Thessalonians we are told "For the Lord Himself will descend from Heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive (at that time), who are left (still living on Earth), will be "caught up" (harpazo in Greek, and rapturo in Latin translated rapture in English) together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord", and Isaiah tells us in verse 60 "Who are these who fly like a cloud, and like doves to their roosts? (NKJV)."  These verses then warn us "thick darkness" (spiritual darkness) will cover the Earth (around the time of the Rapture) with rebellion against God, the Earth will be filled with sin and transgressions, people will deny the Lord, lying (and deceit) will abound, and justice will fail ... while those who depart from the evil (and turn back to God) will become their "prey" and will be attacked.  Then the "Day of Vengeance" (the coming Apocalypse and Armageddon) will come against the whole Earth.  And then after that, the Lord will return to save Israel, His people, and the Earth will be restored, and all those who despise and hate Israel and the Lord will bow down to Israel and the Lord, or will be utterly destroyed.  Then righteousness and peace will cover the Earth, and there will be no more Sun or Moon for light, but the light and glory of the Lord will provide the light upon the Earth (other prophecies also speak of this.)   However, for those who do not love God's Word and have not been well taught, these verses in Isaiah and 1 Thessalonians will make no sense and might simply appear to be describing some events that might have happened sometime in the past.   Prophecies: The "RAPTURE"      The APOCALYPSE and ARMAGEDDON      Prophecies:  ISRAEL       Prophecies of MESSIAH'S RETURN       GOD'S PROMISE ...

The coming ANTICHRIST      In 1954 Democrat Lyndon Johnson (who later became President) sneaked in an amendment forbidding Christian pastors from discussing or exposing current politics (or politicians) that contradicted or opposed basic Biblical laws and principles (because a number of pastors in Johnson's home state of Texas were challenging his Socialist (aka Communist - Atheistic - Liberal) doctrines.

 

Prior to 1954 our nation allowed (and even expected) faithful Christian pastors to hold our politicians (and nation) accountable to basic Biblical laws and principles.  But, ever since the "Johnson Law" was passed forbidding pastors ("shepherds") from discussing and exposing policies and politicians to the voters (the "flocks") in their churches (through threats of losing tax exemptions), most of the appointed "watchmen" in our churches across our nation have remained silent as they watched (and many even encouraged) Godless, ignorant, and dangerous men and women approach and enter in and turn our country away from "One nation under God" into "Another nation against God" while the flocks were sleeping.

 

Through the earnest prayers of our founders, God raised up a nation where our (earthly) King is "The Rule of Law" (framed by our Constitution and founded upon God's Law and God's Word.)  Our President, Congress, and Supreme Court are to be separate and equal divisions of power under our "King" (The Rule of Law) ... and within our borders no single person or group of people was ever to be allowed "above," "outside," or "immune from" our Rule of Law (the "King" which God set above this nation.).

  

Our founders warned this form of government required a Godly people who feared God and trusted in God's Word.  In God's eyes the elected leaders of a Constitutional Republic are simply mirrors reflecting the people of that nation. 

 

God lifts up and raises leaders who reflect the Spiritual and moral condition of the "people" and the "prophets" (ministers, reverends, priests, rabbis, and preachers) of a nation.  Because of this, God will judge our nation by its leaders.

 

We are commanded in the Bible to "salute the rank" and show respect and submit to the authority of those placed over us.  Yet, we are also commanded to be the "light" in a dark world and to warn others of the judgment which will fall upon this nation whose leaders have turned their backs and our nation's back against God (just as John the Baptist shined the light of God's Word upon Rome's ruler in Israel ... and as all God's prophets warned the rulers and people when their actions were in opposition and rebellion against the Word of God.)

 

Contrary to what many large churches and denominations now teach, the Bible never says the "Church" (body of believers) will subdue the world, or solve the world's (or nation's) problems, or end the "wars", "famine", "poverty", "disease", "immorality", and "violence" (in fact the Bible warns these will continue to grow worse and worse) ... but, the believing "Church" is to tell people about the "good news" of having their sins forgiven and having the hope and promise of life everlasting in the Kingdom of Heaven by turning away ("repenting") from their sinful ways and placing all their trust (and love) in Jesus Christ (Yeshua Ha'Mashiach in Hebrew) the "King of kings."

  

But, as in the days after God raised up the Godly king Josiah (2 Kings 23), the sins of the earlier king Manasseh who "spilled much innocent blood" (sacrificing babies to Molech ... which we now call "abortion"), were so great (and so foul) in God's eyes that God would not turn from "His burning wrath" against Judah (which He soon destroyed and sent into captivity).      (Prophecies:  The coming "Apocalypse" and Armageddon ... "The Day of God's Wrath")

Galatians 3 (Listen)

Saved by Faith, or by Works of the Law?

 

   "O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you?

     It was before your eyes that Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified.

     Let me ask you only this:

     Did you receive the Spirit by works of the Law or by hearing with faith?

     Are you so foolish?

     Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh?

     Did you suffer so many things in vain—if indeed it was in vain?

     Does He who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you

     do so by works of the Law, or by hearing with faith—

     just as Abraham “believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness”?

     Know then that it is those of faith

     who are the sons of Abraham.

     And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith,

     preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying,

     “In you shall all the nations be blessed.”

     So then, those who are of faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.

     For all who rely on works of the Law

     are under a curse; for it is written,

   “Cursed be everyone who does not abide by all things

     written in the Book of the Law, and do them.”

     Now it is evident that NO ONE is justified before God by the Law, for

   “The righteous shall live by faith.”

     But the Law is not of faith,

     rather “The one who does them shall live by them.”

     Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law by becoming a curse for us—

     for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree”—

     so that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles,

     so that we might receive the promised Spirit through faith.

     To give a human example, brothers: 

     even with a man-made covenant,

     no one annuls it or adds to it once it has been ratified.

     Now the promises were made to Abraham and to his offspring.

     It does not say, “And to offsprings,” referring to many, but referring to one,

   “And to your offspring,” who is Christ (Messiah).

     This is what I mean:

     The Law, which came 430 years afterward,

     does not annul a covenant previously ratified by God,

     so as to make the promise void.

     For if the inheritance comes by the Law, it no longer comes by promise;

     but God gave it to Abraham by a promise.

     Why then the Law?

     It was added because of transgressions,

     UNTIL the offspring should come to whom the promise had been made,

     and it was put in place through angels by an intermediary.

     Now an intermediary implies more than one, but God is One.

     Is the Law then contrary to the promises of God?

     Certainly not!

     For if a law had been given that could give life,

     then righteousness would indeed be by the law.

     But the Scripture imprisoned everything under sin,

     so that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ

     might be given to those who believe.

     Now before faith came, we were held captive under the Law,

     imprisoned until the coming faith would be revealed.

     So then, the Law was our guardian until Christ (Messiah) came,

     in order that we might be justified (saved) by faith.

     But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian,

     for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God,

     THROUGH FAITH.

     For as many of you as were baptized into Christ

     have put on Christ.  (Now clothed in HIS righteousness)

     There is neither Jew nor Greek (Gentile),

     there is neither slave nor free,

     there is no male and female,

     for you are all ONE in Christ Jesus.

     And if you are Christ's,

     then you are Abraham's offspring,

     HEIRS according to promise.

To help us understand this prophecy God describes the generation of Noah as morally corrupt and "filled with violence." The Hebrew word translated "violence" in this passage was "hamas!!"

     (like smelly, rotting meat ... immoral)

     before God,

     and the Earth was filled

     with violence ("hamas!")

     (the Hebrew word for violence was ‘hamas’).

     So God looked upon the Earth,

     and indeed it was corrupt;
